How to attract more clients and grow your salon—even when you’re fully booked
If you’re anything like many salon owners and stylists I work with, you’re incredibly good at your craft but less confident when it comes to promoting your business online or in the local community.
Marketing might feel like a full-time job you don’t have time for. And when you’re fully booked and juggling appointments, who has time to create content, run ads or plan events?
But here’s the thing: consistent, creative marketing is how you future-proof your salon business and make sure those appointment books stay full next season, too.
So where do you begin?
Here are 10 tried-and-true salon marketing ideas to help you get ahead without burning out:
1. Start a Referral Program
Your best clients already love you so let them become your biggest advocates. Offer a reward like £5 off their next appointment for every new client they refer.
2. Use Loyalty Punch Cards
Encourage long-term clients with a reward after 10 visits. Loyalty builds relationships, and relationships build retention.
3. Set Up a Google Business Profile & Get Reviews
Word of mouth is digital now. Claim your salon listing, ask for reviews and watch your search visibility grow.
4. Share Before & After Photos Online
Show off your transformations! Great lighting, flattering angles, and a consistent style help potential clients fall in love with your work. Check out our Salon Social Media Video System course to find out more about this.

5. Offer Online Booking
Make it easy. Clients want to book on their schedule, not yours. A smooth booking experience can win you a client over the competition.
6. Post on Social Media Regularly
Short-form video (like Instagram Reels) and carousel posts are performing well. If you’re not sure what to post, check out our free content calendar here.
7. Use Hashtags Strategically
Help locals find you by using geo-specific hashtags (#ManchesterHair, #BristolBalayage, #SomersetFacial). Don’t underestimate local reach!
8. Create Birthday Offers
Automate a birthday message with a discount or gift to keep clients feeling valued and to give them a reason to book again.
9. Collect Email Addresses
Email marketing is not dead. It’s direct, personal and perfect for announcing last-minute openings, flash sales or VIP offers.
10. Batch Your Marketing Content
Spend one morning a month batching content (photos, captions, videos) so you’re not scrambling during the week. Consistency builds trust.
